Government erases COVID-19 test requirement for domestic travel
29 Aug 2022
The Indonesian government has moved to abolish negative Antigen or RT-PCR COVID-19 test results for Indonesians and foreign citizens travelling domestically within the country.
As stipulated in COVID-19 Task Force Circular No. 24/2022 on health protocols for domestic travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, domestic travelers are now only required to use the government issued PeduliLindungi mobile app to show proof that they are eligible for domestic travel.
It should be noted however that a number of other basic health protocols for domestic travel during the COVID-19 pandemic are still effective, namely:
-
That travelers above the age of 18 are required to have their booster shots.
-
That non-Indonesian travelers above the age of 18 must already have their second shots.
-
That Indonesian travelers between the age of 6 and 17 must already have their second shots.
-
That non-Indonesian travelers between the age of 6 and 17 are exempt from mandatory vaccination.
-
That travelers below the age of 6 are exempt from mandatory vaccination but are only allowed to travel with a guardian who have met the necessary COVID-19 health protocol requirements.
Additionally, travelers who cannot participate in the government’s COVID-19 vaccination drive because of certain health conditions or comorbid health conditions must have a letter confirming their situation from a certified medical professional.
This latest regulation takes effect starting August 25, 2022, and will remain effective until the Indonesian government deems otherwise.
