Government Erases Insurance Requirement for International Travelers
10 Jun 2022
The Indonesian government has issued an Amendment to COVID-19 Task Force Circular No. 19/2022 on Health Protocols for International Travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. The document amends the requirement of a health insurance that covers all COVID-19 related health treatment and medical evacuation expenses.
Effective starting June 8, 2022, the decision to amend the regulation was in adherence to the current COVID-19 situation in Indonesia, which continues to improve since the last outbreak early this year caused by the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
“The government is making efforts to improve the people’s economy, including by relaxing its lockdown policy in the regional and city level of which nearly all has been reduced to level 1. This is true as well in the tourism sector by no longer requiring foreigners entering Indonesia to have health insurance,” said the Indonesian COVID-19 Taskforce spokesperson Dr. Wiku Adisasmito, as quoted by Detik.
