Indonesia Lowers Minimum Stock Price to IDR 1 as New Trading Rules Take Effect

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has officially lowered the minimum trading price for shares from IDR 50 to IDR 1 per share, introducing a new trading framework aimed at providing greater flexibility for low-priced stocks and improving market liquidity.

The new rule took effect on Monday, 28 September, following the IDX's announcement earlier this month. The change applies to equity securities traded on the Regular and Cash Markets and is accompanied by adjustments to the Auto Rejection limits.

IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik said all exchange members were prepared to implement the new minimum price. “All exchange members are ready to implement the removal of the Rp50 minimum price in trading on Monday, Sept. 28. It will take effect on Sept. 28,” Hendrik told reporters, as quoted by ANTARA News on 25 September.

The previous IDR 50 price floor had limited the movement of shares that had remained at that level. Under the new framework, those shares can move below IDR 50, allowing trading to take place across a wider price range.

“We hope this will increase liquidity and provide better price discovery for stocks that have been at Rp50 for a long time and have had no liquidity,” Hendrik said.

The IDX announced the change through two board decisions issued on 21 September 2026. The new rules set the minimum share price at IDR 1 and revise the Auto Rejection Above (ARA) and Auto Rejection Below (ARB) mechanisms.

For shares priced between IDR 1 and IDR 10, both the ARA and ARB limits are set at IDR 1. For shares priced above IDR 10, the existing percentage-based limits continue to apply during the transition period.

The IDX said the adjustment is intended to improve price discovery and liquidity while giving investors greater flexibility in managing their portfolios. “With this change, stocks that were previously priced at Rp50 can be traded within a wider price range to improve the quality of price discovery, encourage increased liquidity, and provide market players with flexibility in managing their investment portfolios,” IDX Corporate Secretary Elsierra Putri Yosita said, as reported by Tempo.

The first trading session under the new rule also showed movements among several stocks that had previously been priced at IDR 50. The Jakarta Globe reported that shares including GoTo and several MNC Group companies fell below the former IDR 50 threshold following the rule change.
