The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry reports that Indonesia achieved IDR 465.2 trillion in total investment realization during the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a 15.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The investment comprises IDR 230.4 trillion in foreign direct investment (FDI), and IDR 234.8 trillion in domestic investment (DI).
Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani stated that the majority of investment was located outside Java, totaling IDR 235.9 trillion, while Java Island attracted IDR 229.3 trillion. “Investment realization in the first quarter represents 24.4% of the 2025 annual target of IDR 1,905.6 trillion,” Rosan said during a press conference at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 23.
The regions receiving the largest investment were Jakarta with IDR 69.8 trillion, followed by West Java with IDR 68.5 trillion, East Java with IDR 38 trillion, Central Sulawesi with IDR 32.7 trillion, and Banten with IDR 6.7 trillion.
Rosan, who also heads the National Investment Management Authority (Danantara), noted that the Q1 2025 performance was primarily supported by five Asian countries. Singapore led with USD 4.6 billion in investment, followed by Hong Kong with USD 2.22 billion, China with USD 1.8 billion, and Malaysia and Japan with USD 1 billion each. “Singapore has consistently been the largest investor in Indonesia over the past ten years,” Rosan said.
Investment flowed into a diverse set of sectors. The basic metal, metal goods (excluding machinery), and equipment industries attracted the largest share of capital. These were followed by sectors including transportation, buildings, telecommunications, mining, other services, and industrial and office zones.
“In the midst of escalating geopolitical and geo-economic challenges, we are grateful that this year’s first-quarter investment still aligns with the national target,” Rosan concluded.
