Indonesia’s Exports Rise 6% to USD 22.2 Billion in July
01 Sep 2026
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that Indonesia's export value in July 2026 reached USD 26.22 billion, up 6.05% compared to the same period last year. The export increase was still contributed by non-oil and gas commodities.
Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng Hartono, explained that non-oil and gas exports reached USD 25.45 billion, growing 6.84% year-on-year. Meanwhile, oil and gas exports fell 14.58% to USD 0.79 billion. Ateng also noted that Indonesia's exports from January to July 2026 reached USD 167.03 billion, up 4.43% compared to the same period the previous year.
Of that amount, oil and gas exports were recorded at USD 7.02 billion, down 10.63% cumulatively. Conversely, non-oil and gas exports reached USD 160.01 billion, up 5.21% compared to January–July 2025.
Ateng explained that the year-on-year increase in export value in July 2026 was primarily driven by the increase in non-oil and gas export values. Mineral fuels (HS 27), for example, recorded an increase of 34.86% year-on-year, contributing 3.41% to the total export increase.
Furthermore, exports of iron and steel (HS 72) increased 20.31% YoY, contributing 1.89% to the total export increase.
Positive performance also occurred in the electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof group (HS 85), which grew 22.52% YoY and contributed 1.46% to the total export increase.
By sector, non-oil and gas exports in July 2026 reached approximately USD 25.43 billion. The manufacturing industry sector made the largest contribution with an export value of USD 21.76 billion.
Next, the mining and other sectors contributed USD 3.10 billion, while the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector contributed USD 0.57 billion.
“The increase in non-oil and gas export value was mainly driven by the manufacturing industry sector, which rose by 6.03% year-on-year, contributing 5.01% to the increase,” said Ateng.
The export increase in the manufacturing sector primarily originated from several commodities, including organic basic chemicals, aluminum, copper, as well as iron and steel. Increases also occurred in organic basic chemical commodities derived from agricultural products.
Meanwhile, the mining and other sectors recorded export growth of 14.85% year-on-year. Conversely, the agricultural sector experienced a decline of 1.84% year-on-year in July 2026.
Cumulatively from January to July 2026, three leading commodities—iron and steel, CPO and its derivatives, and coal—contributed 28.62% to Indonesia's total non-oil and gas exports.
Iron and steel exports grew 2.77% cumulatively compared to the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, exports of CPO and its derivatives increased 5.49%, while coal exports grew 4.75%.
