Leaders set to address Indonesian-German Business Summit 2023 at Hannover Messe

30 Mar 2023

On April 17, 2023, the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA), Hannover Messe, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Indonesia (KADIN) will organize the Indonesian-German Business Summit 2023.

To be held at the Indonesian Pavilion on the occasion of Hannover Messe 2023 – in which Indonesia is the Partner Country for the third year in a row – the Indonesian-German Business Summit 2023 comes as a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation and further deepen the long and trustful economic relations between Indonesia and Germany.

Leaders from both countries H.E. Joko Widodo and H.E. Olaf Scholz are due to give their remarks on the current conditions and their future plans for German-Indonesian political as well as economic relations.

After the leaders’ speech, Mr. Jan Rönnfeld, Executive Director of the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID), will moderate a discussion between Mr. Prijono Sugiarto, Chairman of PT Astra International, Indonesia’s largest diversified conglomerate, and Mr. Martin Brudermueller, CEO of BASF, the German-based multinational chemical company. The panel will discuss topics surrounding Indonesian-German business cooperation, particularly on driving economic recovery together through industrialization, digitalization, and energy transition.

Furthermore, the Business Summit is also expected to promote investment opportunities in mutual economic relations, specifically in combining Indonesia’s large number of human capital and renewable energy sources and Germany’s advanced technological and industrial digitalization capacities. This would be another important milestone in both countries’ 70 years of diplomatic relations, especially in the spirit of realizing Industry 4.0 and achieving the target of net-zero target emission.
