No cities/regencies above PPKM level 1 throughout Indonesia as COVID-19 wanes

07 Jun 2022

The only regency currently implementing the second lowest level of the country’s brand of lockdown, known as PPKM, is Teluk Bintuni in West Papua.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued the latest extension to the country’s brand of lockdown in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, otherwise known as Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (Public Activity Restriction or PPKM).

The regulation, specifically Inmendagri or Minister of Home Affairs instruction No. 29 and No. 30 of year 2022, confirmed the implementation of PPKM Level 1 in all but one regency across the archipelago, namely Teluk Bintuni in West Papua province. Furthermore, as stipulated in the Inmendagri, the PPKM policy was to remain in effect until July 4, 2022.

PPKM level 1 is the lowest level of the country’s public restriction policy, within which virtually all public and commercial activities are allowed to resume as normal with only minimum restrictions such as the mandatory wearing of face masks indoors.
