President Prabowo Subianto has concluded a bilateral visit with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Monday, 13 of April.
The meeting, which lasted approximately five hours, resulted in agreements on several long-term partnerships in the energy and mineral resources sectors.
Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting between the two leaders formed part of broader efforts to strengthen Indonesia-Russia collaboration amid evolving global dynamics.
Talks between Prabowo and Putin began with a two-hour bilateral meeting, followed by a three-hour one-on-one discussion between the two leaders.
“Several key points were agreed upon, including long-term cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sector, particularly in oil and gas energy security and downstream development,” Teddy said in a press release issued by the Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media, and Information Bureau on Monday.
Beyond the energy sector, Teddy noted that both countries also committed to continuing and expanding cooperation in other areas deemed to have a direct impact on development.
“This includes the continuation of cooperation in education, research and technology, agriculture, and investment across various sectors, particularly industrial development in Indonesia,” he said.
Teddy added that Russia holds a strategic position in global affairs, including as a UN Security Council veto holder and a founding member of BRICS, making its partnership with Indonesia increasingly relevant.
He also noted that Russia is a major global power with abundant natural resources, positioning it as a key partner for Indonesia.
Following the meeting with Putin, Prabowo continued his overseas visit to Paris to attend a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.
“The President departed directly for France with a flight time of approximately 3.5 hours, arriving in Paris around midnight,” Teddy said.
Upon arrival, Prabowo is scheduled to proceed with his diplomatic agenda, including a one-on-one meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace.
