Rosan Roeslani officially began his duties as Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) on Monday, August 19, following a major cabinet reshuffle by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, to which he pledged to coordinate with the Investment Acceleration Task Force for the new capital city, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan.

"We will act swiftly because we understand that the limited time available must be used as efficiently as possible," Mr. Rosan stated after the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Investment in Jakarta.

Mr. Rosan’s appointment comes as part of a significant reshuffle by President Jokowi, who installed three new ministers and one deputy minister, along with other key officials, just two months before the end of his term. The reshuffle is seen as a strategic move to ensure the continuity of critical projects, including the development of Nusantara.

Rosan replaces Bahlil Lahadalia as the Minister of Investment. Mr. Bahlil, in turn, has been appointed as the new Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), succeeding Arifin Tasrif. Prior to his new role, Rosan served as the Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and led the National Campaign Team for Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 Presidential Election.

President Jokowi also signed Presidential Decree No. 25 of 2024, which outlines the role of the Investment Acceleration Task Force for Nusantara. According to the decree, the Minister of Investment heads this task force, with the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency and the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) serving as deputies. The task force is responsible for expediting investments into Nusantara, providing businesses with streamlined licensing processes and cross-sectoral investment facilities.

Other key appointments made during the reshuffle include Andi Agas as the new Minister of Law and Human Rights, replacing Yasonna Laoly, and Angga Raka Prabowo as the Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatics. Dadan Hindayana was named Head of the National Nutrition Agency, and Dr. Taruna Ikrar was appointed as the new Head of the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM). Hasan Nasbi, a political analyst and founder of Cyrus Network, was named Head of the Presidential Communications Office.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Agus Harimurthi Yudhoyono, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, and Gerindra Party Chairman Sufmi Dasco.
